Event report

The event was part of the Dialogues on the Future, a joint initiative of the Government of Spain, the Representation of the European Commission in Spain and the European Parliament Office in Spain. It consisted of a citizen workshop in hybrid format in which participants had the opportunity to present their proposals and interact with each other through their live interventions and comments on YouTube. 57 people participated in the event (50 people in person and 7 people online). 75 % were women. Participants included university students, members of retired associations, and institutional representatives. These are some of the topics addressed during the Citizen Workshop: What is gender equality? What are the priorities for achieving equality? How do we close the gap in time, employment and care between women and men? How to end everyday machismo? In response, participants made the following proposals: 1- The European Union should promote initiatives that improve equality in businesses; 2- It is imperative that the European Union strengthens education on an equal footing; 3- It is essential that the European Union promotes free universal education from 0 to 3 years; 4- From the European Union, gender mainstreaming should be promoted at all stages of public policy-making
