Citizen workshop: How would you close the gender gap?
In the framework of the Conference on the Future of Europe, on 4 November at 16:30 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the citizen workshop “How would you close the gender gap?” will take place, moderated by Ana Requena Aguilar, editor-in-chief of gender at eldiario.es. The workshop is part of the event “Dialogue on the Future of Equality”, part of the Dialogues on the Future, a joint initiative of the Government of Spain, the Representation of the European Commission in Spain and the European Parliament Office in Spain. María Ángeles Benítez, Director of the Representation of the European Commission in Spain, will participate in the opening of the event on 4 November at 10:00. People interested in participating in the workshop in person will be able to do so by registering or logging into the platform of the Conference on the Future of Europe and subsequently clicking on “Join the Event” to register. You will also be able to follow live and participate in the workshop online via the YouTube link. Participate and share your proposals for the future!

Event report
The event was part of the Dialogues on the Future, a joint initiative of the Government of Spain, the Representation of the European Commission in Spain and the European Parliament Office in Spain. It consisted of a citizen workshop in hybrid format in which participants had the opportunity to present their proposals and interact with each other through their live interventions and comments on YouTube. 57 people participated in the event (50 people in person and 7 people online). 75 % were women. Participants included university students, members of retired associations, and institutional representatives. These are some of the topics addressed during the Citizen Workshop: What is gender equality? What are the priorities for achieving equality? How do we close the gap in time, employment and care between women and men? How to end everyday machismo? In response, participants made the following proposals: 1- The European Union should promote initiatives that improve equality in businesses; 2- It is imperative that the European Union strengthens education on an equal footing; 3- It is essential that the European Union promotes free universal education from 0 to 3 years; 4- From the European Union, gender mainstreaming should be promoted at all stages of public policy-makingRelated Ideas
