Polish-Hungarian Research Platform
The Ferenc Mádl Institute of Comparative Law (MFI) and the Polish Institute of Justice (Instytut Wymiaru Sprawiedliwości – IWS) held the joint launch event of the Polish-Hungarian Research Platform on 10 May 2021. The project is supported by the Ministry of Justice of Poland and as the Polish branch of the Central European Professors’ Network is expected to operate in its present form until 31 December 2021. The launch event organised by the IWS in Warsaw was held in a hybrid format (face-to-face and online), and featured speeches by the Polish Deputy Minister of Justice – Dr. Marcin Romanowski, Director of IWS – Dr. hab. Marcin Wielec, Deputy Director of IWS – Prof. Dr. Paweł Sobczyk, and Prof. Dr. János Ede Szilágyi – Head of the MFI. At the opening event Prof. Dr. András Zs. Varga – President of the Curia paid his tribute also. The Research Platform carries out its research in four different thematic areas and four research groups: (a) Constitutional change – with a special focus on European integration and constitutional identity, (b) Rule of Law, (c) Administrative Justice, (d) Judicial efficiency. As a result of the research each group will publish a book for a wider international audience, in addition to organising a number of thematic professional events. The opening ceremony was attended by representatives from both countries and members of the platform, including Prof. Grzegorz Pastuszko and Prof. Artur Mezglewski from the Polish branch, and Prof. Dr. András Patyi, Prof. Dr. Balázs Schanda and Prof. Dr. Csaba Varga from the Hungarian branch.
