Event report
On 8 March, on the occasion of Women’s Day, the European project “Schools — Ambassadors of the European Parliament” spoke online with Elena Kountoura about the position of women in today’s Europe. With particular warmth and sincere interest after a small introduction, the MEP with the fluency and vitality of the speech, which characterises it, answered the questions of the students of the group, gaining undoubtedly their sympathy and commitment. The questions concerned gender-based violence, the treatment of women in the professional field, gender equality, its position in politics and the need to recognise it both at family and social level. Mrs. Kountoura, taking advantage of her years of experience as a minister and a combative politician, tried to actively participate in committees that secure the position of the woman, enshrining her labour and social rights and, above all, highlighting her value. At the end of the meeting, Ms Kountoura stressed that it is the young people, tomorrow’s citizens of Europe, who will make a difference, those who will dare to change all the bad texts and build a better future for both sexes.Related Ideas
