Event report
The dicussion was focused around the main idea of the book, that human rights have changed significantly throughout the centuries. It started as a form of protection againts authority/state and it slowly turned into a collection of benefits and rights provided by said state. This changed its whole dynamic as more and more things became human rights, watering down its meaning. States and especially inernational institutions heavily changed human rights and their original meaning is now almost lost. The speaker also brought up, that the EU is also using this umbrella term for human rights to condemn anyone they do not agree with ideologically.
