National Civic Hackathon is organised by the European Dialogue in cooperation with the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava. It is part of the European project EuroChangeMakers which is supported by the Europe for Citizens programme.
The Hackathon is organised with an aim to help young people discuss and create ideas on what a common European future should look like, how to address important challenges, and what should be included among European priorities. They will be discussing, reflecting on, and proposing concrete solutions to be published on online platform of the Conference on the Future of Europe.
The Hackathon will be realized through the so-called design thinking method that encourages creativity and team spirit. Up to 10 participants will be selected as EuroChangeMakers, who will hold a series of debates with other citizens and decision makers and will be invited to travel to the European Civic Hackathon in July or August 2022. There they will meet, network, and discuss with they peers from other countries to jointly summarize the outcomes of national events and integrate them into the so-called White Paper. This document will be then be presented to European and national political leaders.
The event is organised as a part of the project EuroChangeMakers, which is coordinated by GEYC from Romania and supported by the Europe for Citizens programme of the EU. The main goal of the whole project is to involve more than 300 citizens from 18 partner countries in National Civic Hackathons during September and October 2021.
