Event report available
Join us for an exciting online conversation with two former Hungarian Commissioners! Starting at 6 p.m. on Friday (17 September), Tibor Navracsics, Head of the European Strategy Research Institute of the National University of Public Service (EUSTRAT), former EU Commissioner, and László Andor, Secretary General of the Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS), also analysed the annual evaluation speech of Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission. The conversation is moderated by Mark McMenemy. Each year in September, the President of the Commission takes stock of the achievements of the past year in his annual speech and presents his vision of the future of the EU, the priorities for the coming period. Members of the European Parliament will then discuss the priorities expressed and the main challenges of the year ahead. We will talk with the two former Hungarian Commissioners about the year reviewer and its aspects in Hungary. Join the conversation and ask your questions, tell us your opinion!
Event report
We had an online conversation about Ursula von der Leyen’s speech and its implications in Hungary, with two former EU Commissioners: Tibor Navracsics, Head of the European Strategy Research Institute of the National University of Public Service (EUSTRAT) and László Andor, Secretary General of the Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS). Participants at the Zoom meeting — interested citizens, ED offices and journalists — could send their questions in advance through the chat function and put their questions live, making the debate truly interactive, dynamic and easy to follow. Participants discussed a number of topics and policy areas, such as digitalisation, the upcoming European Year of Youth or the green transition. The focus of the discussion was on the role of Eastern Europe and Hungary, including on the EU’s security and defence policy and on the international scene.
