The Conference on the Future of Europe event is being held with the Fingal Integration Forum. The group has chosen "Migration" as their topic and "Making best use of legal pathways to Europe and supporting integration for more inclusive societies" as their sub-topic.
The group will consider two questions during the event:
How can migrants best be supported to contribute to our societies?
How can the EU help foster successful integration?
Event report
The Conference on the Future of Europe is an EU wide initiative to hear the views of citizens on the future of Europe. The European Parliament, the Council of Europe, and the European Commission are committed to listening and following up on recommendations. The Europe Direct Centre in Blanchardstown Library and Fingal County Council Community Office arranged a series of consultations to facilitate the people of Fingal to engage with the process and to contribute their ideas. For this consultation members of Fingal Integration Forum, Fingal Ethnic Network, and their invited guests, came together to contribute ideas on the topic of legal migration and integration. A group of ten people participated in the consultation, which was held on Zoom and the Mayor of Fingal, Councillor Seána Ó Rodaigh attended. Jonathan Claridge, Head of the Political Section and Deputy Head of European Commission Representation in Ireland introduced the topic in a short video. The group contributed ideas on how migrants can best be supported to contribute to our societies and how the EU can help foster successful integration. The consultation was held during Fingal Inclusion Week (15 – 21 November 2021), an initiative of Fingal County Council Community Office and the Fingal Public Participation Network, which aims to highlight the positive work that communities, agencies, and other organisations are involved in to reduce social exclusion and poverty in Fingal.Related Ideas
