Citizen workshop: How can we educate in healthy lifestyle habits?

Event reportThe event was part of the Dialogues on the Future, a joint initiative of the Government of Spain, the Representation of the European Commission in Spain and the European Parliament Office in Spain. It consisted of a citizen workshop in hybrid format in which participants had the opportunity to present their proposals and interact with each other through their live interventions and comments on YouTube. 99 people participated in the event (85 people in person and 14 people online). 65 % were women. Participants included students from the health sciences branch, health professionals, administration technicians and researchers. These are some of the topics addressed during the Citizen Workshop: What is a healthy life? What factors influence the achievement of a healthy life? What are the individual and collective benefits of leading a healthy life? In which areas should we focus on educating healthy lifestyles? In response, participants made the following proposals: 1- It is essential that public administrations address people’s health by taking into account their physical and social environment; 2- The European Union should better regulate the advertising and labelling of products harmful to health; 3- The European Union should promote stricter anti-smoking laws; 4- Public administrations should encourage parents’ schools to instill healthy lifestyles.
