Dialogue on the future of Transylvania. Focus: female entrepreneurship
The COVID-19 pandemic is seen as the biggest challenge for the global community after the destruction caused by the two world wars. At that time, political leaders met to lay the foundation for the European project. The objectives were precise: to bring countries together, to remove the temptation of isolationism and nationalism and to address in a spirit of solidarity and cooperation the challenges that could only be met together, namely: peace, prosperity, health and security. Today, in our fight to end the COVID-19 pandemic, we have the same hope that we can build together to protect future generations. New pandemics and new major emergencies will emerge in all areas, not only health. No government of any state, no multilateral body alone will be able to cope with new threats. Together, institutions, bodies and communities across Europe, we need to be better prepared to anticipate, prevent, assess and respond to challenges in an effective way. Therefore, at the initiative of the North-West Women’s Association (AFA) represented by Ms Mihaela RUS and the EUROPE DIRECT Cluj center represented by Ms. Lia VALENDORFEAN, with the support of the Volunteer Center Cluj-Napoca, the Mamprenoare Romania community, PEDITEL, the free pediatric emergency service, Babeş-Bolyai University Cluj, the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Business Management, Cluj-Napoca City Hall and other interested local actors, we set up local working groups in the summer of 2021 in response to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on female entrepreneurship, groups structured in three directions: Health, Education and Digitalisation. The aim of the working groups was to identify local needs and the necessary steps for the recovery of female entrepreneurship in Transylvania after the global pandemic. The proposals of the three working groups were summarised in a document that will be launched publicly on 14 October 2021, at 4 p.m., in Cluj-Napoca, Transylvania, Romania (online)
