Within the framework of the Conference on the Future of Europe, on 27 October between 4.30 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the La Nau Cultural Centre (València), the citizens’ debate "Europe and Health: a new era. This is a face-to-face day, with the possibility of online connection, in which the main voice will lie with the participating citizens through debates in small round tables. It is organised by Europe Direct Comunitat Valenciana and the University of Valencia, and is supported by the Committee of the Regions and the Bertelsmann Foundation. Prof. Dra. will welcome you. Ester Alba, Vice-Rector of Culture and Sport of the University of Valencia. There will be two introductory conferences on EU and Health topics: vision from the European Commission and vision from the Valencian Community, moderated by Daría Terrádez, Director-General for Relations with the European Union and the State. The European vision will be given by lsabel de la Mata, Principal Adviser in the Directorate General of Health of the European Commission, and the vision from the Valencian Community, will be given by Prof. Dr. José María Martín Moreno, Professor of Preventive Medicine and Public Health of UV. Context: On October 27, between 16.30 and 18h.45, a participatory workshop in face-to-face format was held at the La Nau Cultural Center of the University of Valencia, entitled: Europe and Health. The General Foundation of the University of Valencia and Europe Direct Comunitat Valenciana collaborate. The activity is carried out in the Cultural Centre of the university, which is located in the city center of Valencia, and is well known to the public since it takes place cultural activities of great impact and prestige. This made it possible to bring together people who might have different views on the sector. Objective: Theme and structure/methodology of the event: Participatory workshop Europe and Health. 1. At first they welcome Prof. Dr. Ester Alba Pagan, Vice-Rector of Culture and Sport, University of Valencia and Joan Calabuig Rull, Autonomous Secretary for the European Union and External Relations. 2. Two introductory lectures moderated by Ms were then given way. Mr Terrádez, Director-General for Relations with the European Union and the State. These conferences are intended to bring the vision from the European Commission and from the Valencian Community of Industrial Policy closer to the attendees. The Commission intervenes in person. Directorate-General for Health of the European Commission and to give the vision of the Valencian Community intervenes Prof. Dr. José María Martín Moreno, Professor of Preventive Medicine and Public Health of UV. Attendees stay in the Paraninfo room of the University where the citizen debate takes place and discuss the ideas that will be uploaded to the platform. 3. The day ends by indicating that you are attentive to your email, as you will pass a document with the conclusions of the day and in which you will be able to nuance your ideas if you consider these are not sufficiently developed. They are encouraged to actively participate in the platform and to introduce their own ideas into the platform and to follow and give their opinion both positive and negative if any ideas published on the platform challenge them. Number and type: 12 persons from the administration of the Generalitat, associations and research institutes, as well as university students and interested citizens participate. All age groups are represented, although most of them participate over 45 years of age and a representation by equal sexes, residing in the province of Valencia. Main topics: • Investing in prevention and public health • Health principle in all policies and increasing EU competences in health • Promoting interventions aimed at empowering the population and salutogenesis • Advocacy of structural policies • Action and research Other ideas: • Boosting and evaluating e-Health- digitalisation of the system • Developing health technology assessment node • Enhancing the work of healthcare professionals • Deterred interventions to promote healthy ageing, and coordinated action to control communicable and non-communicable diseases • Develop an advanced system of preparedness, alertness and response to epidemics and health emergencies....actions “completed and strengthened from the EU” General environment and planned monitoring: The event took place in a relaxed atmosphere and all participants were able to express their views. At the end of the event, participants were sent an e-mail to complete their contributions if they saw that they were not sufficiently explained and were informed about how they can contribute their ideas to the platform on the Conference on the Future of Europe, encouraging them to participate in it and introduce ideas they consider interesting to it.
