Event report
The event was part of the Dialogues on the Future, a joint initiative of the Government of Spain, the Representation of the European Commission in Spain and the European Parliament Office in Spain. It consisted of a citizen workshop in hybrid format in which participants had the opportunity to present their proposals and interact with each other through their live interventions and comments on YouTube. 24 people participated in the event (16 people face-to-face and 8 people online). 55 % were women. Participants included members of civil society organisations, entrepreneurs, institutional representatives and local residents. These are some of the topics addressed during the Citizen Workshop: What measures have been developed in your town or city in recent years to promote a more sustainable use of water? Do you think they've been enough? In what areas do you think efforts should be prioritised in future to improve water management in your town or city? In response, participants made the following proposals: 1- The European Union should promote strict legislation on the dumping of polluting waste by companies; 2- It is essential that public administrations design comprehensive water management systems at the supra-municipal level; 3- The European Union should encourage investment in the modernisation of pipeline systems in order to improve water use; 4- The European Union should support the involvement of citizens in the efficient management of water.Related Ideas
