Event report

The Climate CoAction Summit took place virtually on 20 November 2021 and reached more than 160 listeners. The participants exchanged views on climate justice, networking and compliance with climate objectives at personal, professional and political level. The aim was also to drive networking and thus call for action. The event was divided into two blocks, with the first block revolving around panel discussions and 6 workshops on different topics in the second block. According to the encouraging words of Baden-Württemberg’s Environment Minister, Thekla Walker, Michael Bloss, MEP, spoke about the EU’s political and scientific climate change initiative, stressing that young people in particular are encouraged to take action to achieve the 1.5 degree target. As a result, climate ambassador Marc Ringel and climate activist Emma Kohler discussed how youth could participate more actively in climate protection and where young people can be supported and more inaugurated. In the second block, the workshop "How can we become active for climate protection locally, in the EU and internationally? Examples from the European Mindchangers project" by Starkmacher e.V. presented the project "Community Changemaker 2030”. The project is a participatory platform in which young people can participate and expand and share their knowledge about climate protection. The goal is to equip young people with competence and thereby create transformation towards climate protection and diversity at local level. In order to also boost global cooperation, climate activists from South Africa, for example, are working together, presenting methods and helping each other to share local climate work internationally. In the other five workshops, the participants discussed the topics of climate protection through divestment, sustainability of change and trade, climate activism at the university, climate protection in a supranational context and subsequently exchanged views with climate pact ambassadors on youth activism. https://www.wir-ernten-was-wir-saeen.de/thats-how-it-was-climatecoaction-summit
