Climate change and the environment
#TheFutureIsYours Leading the way for a more sustainable future
Water Working Group. The Province of Granada with the Conference on the Future of Europe
The three main EU institutions want to give a voice to European citizenship to shape together the future of the European Union. Parliament, the Council of Europe and the Commission have undertaken to incorporate into their respective areas of competence any recommendations, requests or needs made to them. This process of social participation of European construction has been called the Conference on the Future of Europe and it is a unique opportunity for the Province of Granada to identify, what are the challenges and priorities that from our local experience we want to be included in the future EU roadmap. There are a number of issues on which the EU invites us to reflect; health, economy, employment, values and rights, digital transformation, democracy, migration, education, culture, youth or climate change and environment. Being this last topic, on which we would like to invite you to reflect within the framework of these working groups. As you and you know, climate change and the environment, included in the European Green Deal, have become the EU’s top priority for the future. There are many challenges and also quite uncertainties about how to address it to be truly effective in the decisions taken. That is why we would like to ask you to reflect with us on the aspects closest to your professional field and to let us know, very briefly, what recommendations, needs, challenges... you want to move to the European institutions and be part of the future policies and strategies to be defined and developed from the EU. The Europe Direct Centre of the Diputación de Granada has been designated by the European Commission as a partner in the Conference on the Future of Europe. It is our commitment to collect your proposals and reflections to transfer them, through the return mechanisms that have enabled us in the framework of the Conference, to the relevant institutions and to try to ensure that the proposals for the province of Granada are included in future EU policies.
