Event report

The event was held as part of the one-week series of programmes linked to Europe Day, which has become online due to COVID. Prof. Dr. István Lakatos, Head of the Department of Public Road and Railway Vehicles at Széchenyi István University in Győr, who answered: Szilárd Kövesdi, CEO of GySEV Zrt. Under the latter’s leadership, the railway company, which employs around two thousand people, has successfully made large investments worth more than HUF 130 billion, including with the support of the EU. Strategic improvements have been made, such as modernisation and electrification of railway tracks, digitalisation of traffic management, safer rail transport, acquisition of new trains and locomotives. All these improvements have increased passenger comfort and contribute to making rail transport safer and more sustainable.
