Event report available
The National Hungarian Apiculture Association organises a national conference with the invitation of the leaders of more than 110 beekeeping associations located in Hungary and with the involvement of specialists in the Hungarian apiculture sector. The conference will be divided into two parts: in the first part, the beekeeping managers attending the National Management Meeting will be informed with current sector information, and in the second part we are looking for solutions with interactive presentations, with the participation of invited experts, a “future picture” of apiculture, solving the current problems of the apiculture sector. The measures to be taken for the protection of bees will be discussed between the individual Member States of the European Union by cooperation area on the following topics: — Combating bee mortality; — Banning pesticides dangerous for bees; — Setting up a spray forecasting system; — Combating the import of false honeys; — Increased support for beekeepers as part of the Common Agricultural Policy. We believe that without the apiculture sector there is no strong agronomy: neither in Hungary nor in the Common Agricultural Policy of the European Union (CAP). It is therefore of paramount importance that the Future of Europe conference series pay due attention to the key role of pollinating insects. As a result of climate change and human activity, the number of wild pollinators has fallen dramatically recently. Thus, beekeepers in the European Union not only contribute to maintaining the ecological balance, but also carry out invaluable work in agriculture and the food industry by pollinating them. Three quarters of EU food production is based on pollination, meaning bees are essential for food safety. The maintenance and improvement of the apiculture sector thus serves society as a whole. We hope that the conference can contribute to the development of a common, unified European apiculture sector strategy.

Event report
The National Hungarian Apiculture Association organised its national conference with the leaders of more than 110 beekeeping associations located in Hungary and with the participation of interested civilians — the event was open to visitors. In the first part of the conference, the beekeeping managers were informed with up-to-date sector information. The main topics of the presentations were as follows: — Common agricultural policy — What new opportunities will workers in the apiculture sector have? — Consideration of the measures of the previous Hungarian National Apiculture Programme and the last implementation period of the programme; — Introduction of animal welfare support in the apiculture sector; — The subject of setting up an interbranch organisation; — Presentation of the latest results of bee health and environmental monitoring. In the second part, with interactive lectures, with the participation of invited experts, we sought solutions to solve the current problems of the beekeeping sector, as well as future plans: — Combating bee mortality; — Problems with pesticides dangerous to bees; — Setting up a spray forecasting system; — Combating the import of false honeys; — Preserving the quality of domestic waxes, indicating quality problems. The conference took place in a very good mood, while discussing proposals building on the apiculture sector. Participants agreed that the proposals discussed should be presented to the line ministries of the Member States through the work and mediation of advocacy organisations, and that cooperation between Member States in the field of beekeeping and the protection of pollinators should be strengthened.Related Ideas
