Event report

The event took place online on the Facebook page of the Malik Association and saw a discussion between several local volunteers from the Solidarity Projects and the European Volunteers from the European Solidarity Corps and Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs, who shared their service in the rural areas of Barbagia Sarda. The event was moderated by Ms Fatima, a volunteer Spagnola, who, after his greetings, recalled why we met and live: to talk about the present and future of Europe, together with young Europeans and the centre of Sardinia and the Malik association, which has been committed for several years to keep the link between Europe and Sardinia alive. First, the European Solidarity Corps, in particular the long-term individual volunteers’ projects, was presented to the public, listening to the testimonies of volunteers who are now in Gavoi and Ollolai. The girls each spoke in their mother tongue to give an international touch, but the translation into Italian appeared on the screen. In particular, the following intervened: — Fatima (Spain) and Cindy (Belgium) for the project "European Solidarity in Barbagia; Paula (Spain) and Esther (Netherlands) for the project “Fly after the lockdown”. The volunteers explained what their project consists of, what kind of activities they do for the community and why they chose to participate in the European Solidarity Corps. We then went on to talk about the solidarity projects currently working in Barbagia, each represented by a spokesperson for informal groups. Four projects are active in central Sardinia, namely two in the territory of Sarcidano-Barbagia di Seulo, one in the territory of the Bim Taloro Consortium and one in the municipality of Nuoro. After your greetings, Ms Fatima pointed out that, once again, through this event, we wanted to show that the strength of the European Union lies in its ‘unity, albeit in its diversity’.
