Debates on Education, Culture, Youth and Sport conducted by students of 4th ESO Schools in Aragon.
Event report available
The Secondary Education Centres of Aragon, from Europe Direct Aragón (attached to the Department of Presidency and Institutional Relations of the Government of Aragon), were offered the possibility to give informative lectures on the European Union under the name ‘The value of the European Union’. The aim of these conferences is to bring the European institutions closer to young people by informing them of the European policies and programmes that may be closer and more useful to them, deepening the European idea among Aragonese youth; and at the same time, to make the education community aware of the European services and resources available in its closest environment, as well as the existing European information centres in our Autonomous Community, supporting the work done by teachers on European issues. The talks have been given in all those schools that requested it, with a dynamic and didactic format and are aimed at promoting meaningful learning on the following aspects: What are the fundamental values of the European Union; what the institutions of the European Union serve; how the work of the European Union affects us; and what advantages it offers to belong to the European Union. To do this, we propose an approach to the reality of the EU based on concepts close to the students, which are also part of the curricular content they develop in their classrooms: the European Union; the EU in Spain and around the world; EU symbols; EU institutions. The activity has been carried out during the months of September to December 2021. The duration of each talk was 55 minutes and 17 schools participated. During the cycle of training talks on the EU in 2021, it has been used to disseminate and disseminate the Conference on the Future of Europe to Aragonese learners, as well as to capture and channel their views and vision on the future of the EU. At the end of the talks in schools, a dynamic has been proposed to reflect on the future and the promotion of the European Union, through the response to fact sheets on the following topics: Climate change and the environment; Economy, social justice and employment; Health; Digital transformation; Migration; Education, culture, youth and sport. To work on these topics students have formed groups of 4 to 6 people and discussed one of the topics proposed. The results of these dynamics have been uploaded to the Multilingual Digital Platform.
