Homeschooling is difficult in almost all member states. I believe that education is a must, but it shouldn't be required to do this in a school.
It would be great if there is a (online) program where children can learn at home.

I can't help but feel like the lack of social contact would be problematic. The covid-pandemic could be used as an example to see how well online learning works:

I understand what you mean, but homeschooling should also be totally optional as it isn't suitable for all children.
I have personally been very depressed because of going to school. I have been to six schools in two countries and all of them didn't handle bullying well and those schools tried to get their students to think narrow minded.
I began homeschooling since I was 14, that was better for my mental health and I'm quite social now.
Schools are great, but I think that there is room for improvement and homeschool would be an alternative for those who need it.
It could be done totally online like Duolingo & Khan Academy or in zoom classes. And (sport)clubs and local homeschool groups could fill the social aspect of learning.

I agree, If each country had a online only option of schooling for students, to try, it might bring greater choice in the subjects students can choose.
Students are not consumers and should not be treated as consumers. Freedom to pick subject needs to be strongly limited, at least for the first (many) years of their academic curricula.

Great that the EU is already researching this! I hope that they will implement some form of homeschooling in the near future.
Especially learning with an AI sounds interesting whether in school or at home. I also believe that an individual approach to learning is better and there aren't enough teachers or money to have a personal teacher for every student.
Unfortunately I can’t fully agree with you. I had online school for almost 2 years and it was horrible. So on the one hand I don't agree that online school should be applied because being in touch with other people is really important. But, on the other hand, I agree that European Union should give the students online resources so that we can do our best and improve our studying methods and our grades.

School, and education in general, is not only about notions. It is about sharing, learning sympathy and empathy, competing, winning, losing, challenging your teachers... all of this, along with sociality, would be lost if homeschooling became more widespread. As a professor, I cannot endorse this.
Of course, reading your reply, I feel sorry for the fact you suffered and believe that school environments should be improved. But you cannot propose homeschooling to fight, e.g., bullying. This would be the wrong solution to a problem that regards society in general. What happens after a kid finishes homeschooling and needs to deal with the world? I was bullied at work for a period, for instance. Do you dream of a world in which, even after school, we all live locked up in a room, so we do not have to face the challenges of society? Do you even think it would work?
That's where I think you are wrong. School should only be about learning, the upbringing of a child is a task for the parents not the teacher. The parents can choose to outsource that task by sending the child to school, but that shouldn't be required by law.
I have been to several schools in different places. I fully enjoyed learning new things but that was always overshadowed by the social aspect of school. You will be forced to learn the religion of the school and you get forced the ideology from your teachers upon you.
I have never mentioned anything about locking yourself up when live gets difficult. Children can also socialize in a different location than schools. Like in clubs, with friends or just the supermarket. All I'm saying is that there are alternatives to the current way of education.
And again, homeschooling should be totally optional since every person is unique and requires its own way of learning. Whether that is in a school building, at home or in any other way.
I see that we have very different views on what school and education should be, and I am not going to try to argue, because our positions are clearly incompatible with each other.
Only one note: if you study at home, you will not be forced to learn your teacher's religion or ideology, that is for sure, but you will have very little chance to rid yourself of you family's religion and ideology, and you will risk to have very few options and to only learn things you already knew when you chose them. I consider this a pretty serious limit.
Going to a school won't help with that either, otherwise we wouldn't have a rise of populism and problems like Brexit. What would broaden the horizon of a child is traveling and living in different countries, but not everyone wants that or has the money/opportunity for it.
Subjects like Religion, languages, history, geography etc. should teach a child how other people in the world live in an objective way. This can be done outside a school building.
Every child learns its own way and it wouldn't hurt to have a homeschooling program for those who need it.
Magyarországon a covid19 járvány alatt nagyon jól müködött az online oktatás, jelenleg - mivel sikerült visszaszorítani a járvány terjedését - hibrid oktatás zajlik az egyetemeken, ami szintén jól müködik.
