All of the EU member states have a national public broadcaster. They entertain their audience, inform their citizens and fund local content. Moreover, they are instrumental in spreading the culture of their own country abroad. However, because of their national nature, they somehow fail to cover European politics and social issues extensively. Euronews was a first experiment of a European News outlet and it is now owned by a foreign company while ARTE is still limited in scope and size.
It is time for the EU to create its own public service broadcaster in order to produce proper European content and promote European culture at home and abroad.

Tutti i paesi UE hanno dei propri servizi pubblici radio- televisivi. In quanto servizi nazionali, a volte non sono in grado di seguire la politica europea e di occuparsi di temi comuni. Euronews è stato un primo esperimento di mezzo di informazione europeo ed è ora di proprietà di una società estera mentre ARTE è ancora limitata per portata e dimensioni.
È tempo che l'UE crei la propria emittente di servizio pubblico per produrre contenuti europei e promuovere la cultura europea nell'UE e all'estero.

45 participants from Corvinus University grade 5 (age 23-25) discussed CoFoE issues with 3 members of the EESC. Please see a summary of the statements made during this meeting as below. 1. Students agreed that accession of Hungary to the European Union in 2004 involved mainly benefits, i.e. this was a highly welcome step. 2. More than half of participants thought that things in the EU are going to right direction. 3. Except for two participants nobody agreed with the statement that things affecting Hungary are going into right direction in the EU. 4. When considering future visions some of the participants thought there was too little information available to properly analyse individual future scenarios. A public EU-related wide-range media broadcaster serving in all MS mother tongues is regrettably still missing, currently one can see or listen only to „Euro-news” 30 minutes long media service offered by a private company which cannot be considered as objective. 5. Some participants suggested that decision-making in the European Commission is slow, bureaucratic and disappointing and, nobody raised any objection against this point. 6. Participants considered Hungarian membership in the EU as very important from their personal future perspectives. 40 % of them has already joined community-linked projects including Erasmus programs. 7. All of the participants supported the statement that interests of younger generations should be taken into view to a much greater extent when planning and discussing different community policies. „Youngsters in all policies” should be accepted and implemented with a special view to that 2022 will be the Year of Youth in the EU. 8. Participants agreed that Hungary has mainly profited from membership in the European Union. One of its manifestations is that our domestic market was opened to the Western European companies. 9. Many has repeatedly urged the need of implementing equality in use of Community languages. Some has raised serious doubts about the current practice in this regard. 10. Participants entered into long disputes about reconciling Communities’ economic interests (like improving competitiveness) with social interests. Some insisted to prefer social interests compared to economic ones while others sharply argued on the real merits of this proposal. 11. Further unification of the Union was supported only by a smaller minority, while an overwhelming majority of attendees was happy with the present division of tasks and responsibilities. Nobody suggested re-classifying current community tasks to national responsibilities.

A meghívott előadók a regionális digitális tehetséggondozás aspektusait európai kitekintéssel vennék számba különös tekintettel a jó gyakorlatok és a jó módszertanok ismertetésével. A konferencián 2 országos hírű plenáris előadó, a Logischool szakembere és a Miskolci Egyetem informatikai tanszékének munkatársa tartana egy-egy előadást és egy kerekasztal-beszélgetést.
