Event report
The event was part of the Dialogues on the Future, a joint initiative of the Government of Spain, the Representation of the European Commission in Spain and the European Parliament Office in Spain. It consisted of a citizen workshop in hybrid format in which participants had the opportunity to present their proposals and interact with each other through their live interventions and comments on YouTube. 81 people participated in the event (70 people in person and 11 people online). 43 % were women. Participants included students from the institute, members of associations of neighbours, members of associations of the elderly, fathers, mothers and workers in the education sector. These are some of the topics addressed during the Citizen Workshop: What are the first three decisions you would make when you reached the mayor’s office? How would you carry out these measures? Do you think that citizens are sufficiently involved in your city’s decision-making? Why don't you do it? In response, participants made the following proposals: 1- It is essential that public administrations improve public spaces in order to promote intergenerational relations; 2- Public administrations should promote more sustainable, safer and faster pedestrian-cyclist mobility; 3- Public administrations should frequently carry out studies on the built-up stock in order to ascertain the needs of citizens; 4- It is essential that the European Union promotes the naturalisation of cities with native vegetation; 5- The European Union should promote sustainability training for administrative technicians; 6- The European Union must improve the security of cities from a gender perspective; 7- The European Union should promote the culture of participation among citizens; 8- The public administration itself should have sustainable consumption.Related Ideas
