🌎 National Debate on internal market
The National Debate organized by the Chancellery of the Prime Minister and the Representation of the European Commission in Poland will enable representatives of various environments, professions and age groups, residents of cities, villages, and towns from different Polish regions discussion in groups on 6 topics of the Conference: climate transformation, digital transformation, EU internal market, health, the role of the EU in the world, migration. During the workshops, with the help of professional moderators and experts, these people will exchange opinions and jointly develop conclusions and recommendations for the European institutions. After the Debate, we invite you to familiarize yourself with the conclusions of the participants, which will be published here. The National Debate is not an expert event. The meeting is a citizens' debate, the purpose of which is to discuss topics that concern us all as citizens, but are not the areas in which we have the greatest expertise. People representing different views and having different experiences were invited to participate in the Debate. The organizers made every effort to maintain the demographic balance in each debating group. This gives the proposals a chance to be truly representative of society as a whole. Due to the formula, the event is closed.
This group will address the following issues in the EU's internal market:
1. The European Pillar of Social Rights and its implementation – should the Union introduce provisions that would harmonise certain social rights in individual EU countries? Should there be a harmonised maternity (and paternity) leave, minimum wage, weekly working time, retirement age in the Union?
2. Barriers in the internal market – the least communitarized part of the EU internal market is the services market. Should there be, and if so, what restrictions on the provision of services in another country? How can we eliminate existing obstacles? What can we do to facilitate the provision of services in the EU? Should we return to the concept of an e-service card? What is the reason for the member states' reluctance to open up their markets? How to convince Member States to liberalise services? In which services does Poland currently have a comparative advantage, and in which should it develop it?
3. Integration in the euro area and a multi-speed Union – should countries that have adopted the euro be able to assess the economic policies of other countries so as not to suffer the consequences of their excessive debt or possible bankruptcy? Should the EU be able to make commitments in the financial market to finance important economic development measures, such as the current Recovery Fund (NextGenerationEU)?
📌 The debate will be attended by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Janusz Wojciechowski, and the Minister for European Union Affairs, Konrad Szymański. Participants of the debate will be able to use the knowledge of experts belonging to the Team Europe team and the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.
