Changes and Challenges for the EU in the post-Brexit Scenario
***𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗨 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁-𝗕𝗿𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘁 𝗦𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗼*** A new era has started in EU–UK relations on 1 January this year, when, after almost 50 years of membership, the United Kingdom ceased to be a member state of the European Union in all aspects. During the panel discussion organised by the Antall József Knowledge Centre in partnership with the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies, experts will present the findings of the preliminary research paper focusing on the EU–UK economic, political and defence relationship and the effects of Brexit on the Central and Eastern European region. The experts will analyse in detail the different aspects of Brexit and what it will mean for the EU and for its member states. What are the long-term effects of Brexit on the UK and the EU? Would a treaty change result in a stronger European Union? What did Europe learn from Brexit? What foreign policy goals and challenges do the EU and the UK share? Are subgroups in the EU-27 rather helpful or harmful? ***** 𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘: 20 October 2021, 2pm 𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗨𝗘: Zoom 𝗥𝗘𝗚𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡: https://bit.ly/Registration_AJKCBrussels After registering, you will receive a confirmation e-mail containing the link to the online conference and further information about joining the meeting. ***** 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘮𝘦 2pm – 2:05pm 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝘀 ▸ 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗮́𝘇𝘀 𝗛𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗿, Head of the Brussels Office, Antall József Knowledge Centre 2:05pm – 2:20pm 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿 2:20pm – 3pm 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 Speakers: ▸ 𝗘𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗿𝗲𝗮, Senior Research Officer, Wilfred Martens Centre for European Studies ▸ 𝗝𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗺 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹, Director, Centre for European Studies, Prague University of Economics and Business ▸ 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗲 𝗦𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗵, Professor, Department of Politics and International Studies, University of Cambridge ▸ Moderator: 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗼 𝗗’𝗢𝗻𝗼𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗼, Senior Research Fellow, Antall József Knowledge Centre ***** This event receives financial support from the European Parliament.
