Future of the European Union Enlargement
It has been 7 years since the last EU enlargement. Currently there are five EU candidate countries and two potential candidate countries waiting to join. Frustration is building from several of these countries and slowly they are starting to eye alternatives such as Russia and China. This could long term have a negative impact for European Union stability if not resolved. The main discussion topics of this event will be EU foreign policy reform towards candidate countries, reform of Aquis chapters to add civil society reforms to avoid a future Hungary/Poland scenario and how to keep the candidate/potential candidate countries from slipping further into the hands of China and Russia.
