Parque de Gasset, Ciudad Real
Event reportOn Friday 24 June, from Europe Direct Ciudad Real, we asked the citizens of Ciudad Real a wide question, to become their speaker. The aim was to unveil their concerns and what they wanted to change in their day-to-day life through European regulations. To do this, we are at the Youth Meeting, organised annually by Consejoven, and where more than 100 young people passed by. Through a Mentimeter scanned by a QR that we had on our table, we reached the following conclusions: • The lack of employment opportunities, social policies and employment for young people was reported by 89.7 %. The lack of information and prestige of professional formations was also pointed out in direct conversations with the citizenry. Generating opportunities in educated people generates expectations, competitiveness and desire to continue training. If not, a generation is condemned to failure and condition as far as mental health is concerned. Another group that also complained about employment was that of over 45 years of age; • Feminism, by 77.5 %. Respect for the protection of women whistleblowers due to gender-based violence, equal pay to equal work and same hours between sexes (fighting the wage gap); • Education, specialised centres, the problem of bullying and teachers in classrooms and absenteeism, by 59.1 %. • Mental health, by 47.2 %. The pandemic has undermined the users of the centre and is now identified as one of the most neglected and priority problems. Mental health includes our emotional, psychological and social well-being and that affects the way we think, feel and act when we face life; • Migration and foreign policy, by 43 %. Situation in Ceuta and the Canary Islands.
