Citizen workshop: What do you need to digitise your company?

Event reportThe event was part of the Dialogues on the Future, a joint initiative of the Government of Spain, the Representation of the European Commission in Spain and the European Parliament Office in Spain. It consisted of a citizen workshop in hybrid format in which participants had the opportunity to present their proposals and interact with each other through their live interventions, comments on YouTube and online surveys on the Mentimeter platform. 34 people participated in the event (12 people face-to-face and 22 people online). 17 % were women. Participants included entrepreneurs, professors, university students and public sector workers. These are some of the topics addressed during the Citizen Workshop: Is digitalisation a threat or an opportunity for small and medium-sized enterprises? Why are small and medium-sized enterprises less digitalised? How can the digitalisation of businesses be supported? In response, participants made the following proposals: 1- Public administrations should train business management teams to boost their digitalisation; 2- Public administrations should invest in workers’ digital skills; 3- The European Union should ensure that European funds are used for the digitalisation of small and medium-sized enterprises; 4- The European Union must promote greater collaboration between large, medium-sized and small businesses to boost digitalisation
