Are the Czechs ready for the digital decade?

Europe has entered the digital decade. According to the EU’s objectives, the countries of the 27 should undergo the so-called digital transformation in the coming years. This is not only about online communication with the authorities, but also about replacing workers with technologies or enhancing digital literacy and IT skills. Despite the fact that digitisation has been a topic for many years, the Czech Republic is in the European comparison rather on the tail. On the one hand, the Czech Republic is not very successful in modernising the functioning of the state administration, on the other hand it lacks experts who could fill perspectives and make the Czech economy more competitive. What opportunities, but also challenges and concerns do the digital era bring to Czech society? And how can the European Union help them? Questions for discussion: — How will digitalisation affect citizens’ lives? How can it improve them? — In the digital decade, is it enough for people to know the basics of working with computers, or will they have to learn more skills? How to help people whose job is replaced by technology? — Are there sufficient support for jobseekers without wider digital competences? Do they have competences to supplement? What jobs will modernisation jeopardise? And will he offer enough new ones? How to use EU funds for the digital transformation? Guests: — Marcel Kolaja, Member of the European Parliament/Pirates, Zelení/ESA/- Dagmar Kučerová, Director of Louny Municipal Library, — Petr Achs, digitisation expert from the Innovation Centre of the Ústí Region and others. Moderator: Luboš Palata (Deník.cz). You will be able to submit your comments and questions via Sli.do. Code #COFOE_Digi. The event is organised as part of the Conference on the Future of Europe. The media partner is Diary. Its implementation has been supported by the European Union.
