9 May as public holiday & European Elections Day

Let us make Europe Day (9 May) the EU-wide public holiday and hold European elections every five years, whatever the day of the week. Having a common EU-wide public holiday as a symbol dedicated to the EU will bring more attention to the importance of European integration and strengthen the sense of belonging among EU citizens. It would also make the election of the European Parliament more interesting, which is currently taking place in the Member States over four days.

Find out about the new digital platform for EU citizens’ dialogue on zoom on 15 May at 17: 30 https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87165035249?pwd=UnBCcjZQaEQ1YnV2WnZ3cnBCclpuQT09 Meeting ID: 871 6503 5249 Passcode: 385688 A preliminary step towards launching a series of debates and discussions, which will allow citizens across Europe to share their ideas to help shape Europe’s future, this is a summing-up of the Conference on the Future of Europe (CoFe). The CoFe aims to give citizens a stronger role in shaping the EU’s policies and ambitions. It will serve as a virtual forum for an open, inclusive, transparent and structured debate with European citizens on issues affecting them and affecting their daily lives. The Conference will focus on the main themes underpinning recovery and resilience policies identified by the Next Generation EU plan such as health, climate change, social fairness, digital transformation, the role of the EU in the world and strengthening the democratic processes governing the EU. These are in line with the general priorities of the EU and the issues raised by citizens in opinion polls. Ultimately, it will be the participants who will decide which topics will be dealt with at the conference. The Conference paves the way for events initiated by citizens, to be organised in cooperation with civil society and stakeholders at all levels, national and regional parliaments, European institutions, social partners and academia. Their participation in the process is essential to ensure maximum involvement and dissemination. The interactive multilingual digital platform which, as of 19 April, allows everyone to present their ideas online, to consult the events in which they take part or to include their own events on topics of interest is crucial for launching the dialogue with citizens. This is exactly what we will talk during the Europa event, the future is in the Tue Mani! We discover the New Digital Platform for Dialogue with EU Citizens of 15 May, 17.30 On the Zoom Platform.
