The Nordics and the EU

The four Scandinavian states — Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway — each have a very differentiated relationship with the European Union. This can be seen, among other things, in the different forms of integration and years of accession. While Denmark already joined the European Community in 1973, Finland and Sweden did so only in the 1990s. Norway, on the other hand, has never become part of the EU despite two referenda, but has a close relationship with the EU with its membership of the European Economic Area (EEA). In this online event, we will look at and compare the different relations between these four countries and the European Union. We will shed light on differences and similarities and discuss possible developments.
