#TheFutureIsYours Strengthening European democracy
The future of Europe — Between integration and the populist challenge
The symptoms of fatigue within the European Union are obvious. The United Kingdom is gone. The French-German engine doesn't work well. The eurozone has not fully overcome the serious crisis that began almost a decade ago. In Warsaw and Budapest, the rulers seem not to respect common values. The answers to the Syrian war, to the refugee question and to Russia’s attitude are heterogeneous. Against this complex (geo)political context, the Round Table will discuss the EU’s possibilities to address the multiple challenges it faces and regain its political, economic and cultural weight. Florentino Portero (Director of the Master’s Degree in Political Action, Francisco de Vitoria University), Ángel Rivero (title professor of Political Science and Administration at the Autonomous University of Madrid), Manuel Alvarez Tardío, Professor of History of Thought and Social and Political Movements, Rey Juan Carlos University of Madrid, and José Francisco Herrera Antonaya, Director General of Cooperation with the State and European Union of the Community of Madrid, will discuss. Moderation: Adriaan Kühn. The event is organised by the Vice-Rectorate of Internationalisation of the University Francisco de Vitoria and the Master in Political Action of the same University in collaboration with the Community of Madrid.
