Context, FINALITY, OBJECTMENT AND STRUCTURE/METODOLOGY OF THE EVENT | Debate on the relationship between the European Union and small entities with municipal administrators, local political representatives and members of civil society, included in the Next Chapter Europe project, and consultation on the Conference on the Future of Europe, with particular reference to the contribution of the municipalities to it and to the proposals introduced by the European Federalist Movement on the platform, NUMBER AND TYPE OF PARTECIPANTI PRESENT | About twenty people taking part in the debate, including speakers at the opening of the event (Raffaele Cattaneo, Stefano Morcelli, Federico Gusmeroli). The audience was mostly composed of adults rather than young people. Clear gender inequality, approximately 10 % women. Main MATERIES OF DISCUSSION DURING THE LABORATORS/SEMINARY/ASSEMBLEE |Possibility of municipalities in the relationship with Europe, limits of both sides, disinformation on European issues, European citizenship, the future of the European Union at organisational and strategic level. Main IDEAS FROM THE PARTICIPANTS DURING THE EVENT, DISCORS AND ARGOMENTS SHARE OR DETAILS THAT HOW TO THAT IDEAS | Focus on European values for the construction of a European identity even in the most peripheral areas. Dare more on the part of the municipalities when an EU signed opportunity emerges. Involve small municipalities to team up in working on big projects. Improving the communication of the European Union towards the territories so that the territories communicate better to their citizens. The GENERAL ATMOSFERA AND THE FOLLOW-UP ATTESO | Predictions respected both from the point of view of attendance and participation. Summary Written | The event saw the reports of territorial political representatives Raffaele Cattaneo, Stefano Morcelli and Federico Gusmeroli giving input to the debate on the relationship between the European Union and small municipal and provincial entities, a concrete topic, current and that can be found in the Conference on the Future of Europe. Particularly active were the municipal administrators present at the event, some of whom are familiar with numerous European projects. It was felt that the communication problem exists, both at Community and territorial level, but that the possibilities of municipalities in their relations with Europe are seriously hampered by the lack of propensity of the first to team up, which in any case can discern from the superficiality with the Union sometimes offers certain projects to the territories. The discussion then started on how to include Europe in small territories, it was concluded that the spread of European values could be much more impactful than practical funding, so the practice of twinning and the practice of joining AICCRE were praised, but it was considered that they are not sufficient to promote a strong European citizenship. With regard to the Conference on the Future of Europe, virtually all those present agreed on the need for a reorganisation of the European institutions, and a great deal of weight was given to the inequalities present in the territory of the Union, inequalities which, among other things, weigh heavily between large and small territories. The PROPOSES THAT THE PARTICIPANTS HAVE ACCEPTED TO PRESENT | Detecting the greatest obstacles in cooperation between the European Union and regional, provincial and municipal constituencies attributable to either party, so that even the great virtues on which the European Union is founded can be better perceived by citizens. Specifically, the participants decided to share the following idea: abolishing the right of veto in order to promote a stronger European democracy and to bring citizens and territories back at the heart of the European project.Related Ideas
