How does the Conference on the Future of Europe work in practice? The Portuguese Consulate General in Düsseldorf and We are Europe! e.V. and EUROPE DIRECT Düsseldorf invite all interested parties to learn more about the conference during the Düsseldorf Week “Europe in the city”. Carla Grijó, Deputy Director-General for European Affairs at the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representing the current Presidency of the Council, and Joachim Ott, Head of the Citizens’ Dialogues Unit at the European Commission, are invited to attend. They will report on the design of the conference in a zoom webinar and will then be available for questions. The event will be held in English.

Follow-up report: Online Talk "Portuguese Presidency of the EU: Paving the way for the Conference on the Future of Europe’. 28 TN via Zoom PART 1: Welcome by Lidia Nabais, Portuguese Consultant General in Düsseldorf, and Evgenia Strauß, ED Düsseldorf PART 2: Presentation of the priorities of the Portuguese Presidency by Carla Grijó, Deputy Director-General for European Affairs at the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. • Social dimension (organisation of the Social Summit in Porto on 7 May)• Digitalisation: Promoting a digital transformation at the service of humanity• Green Agenda: Taking a leading role in climate action• Strengthening Europe as an international actor while being open to the world PART 3: Presentation of the Conference on the Future of Europe, incl. digital platform PARL 4: Moderated Q & A, among others: • Who exactly within the EU is responsible for the approval of the national recovery plans. Deadline? • Status of and perspective on the migration issue? • How will the citizens’ ideas in the Conference on the Future of Europe find their way into the institutions? Who needs them to be heard and dealt with? • Is the platform ready technically finalised or is it a sort of beta version with final start in full functionality on 9th of May? I’m asking cause I tried from multiple places and loading times are up to 18 seconds. Regarding the goal of digitisation this is not connecting as a digital technical offer coming from the EU. • How do you ensure identification of EU citizens? As far as I can see a fake account is enough to contribute.
