Event report
In the framework of the Conference on the Future of Europe organised by the association “Latvian Rural Forum”, on 26 January 2022 20 participants took part in the conference on the Future of Europe in Tiņģere Castle, 10 of which took place in person and 10 remotely. Proposals put forward by participants: • Strengthen rural community activists; • There is a need for support for those who have so far not been confronted with NGOs and projects. Various seminars and opportunities to consult are very useful, including representatives of the North Kurzeme Business Association/Business Association of North Kurzeme. • Continue to inform citizens about the opportunities to receive financial support for the implementation of initiatives in line with local needs and new trends and opportunities in Europe; • To promote forms of communication that correspond to the mentality of the Latvian rural population — individual and direct communication; • Special attention should be paid to the involvement of rural communities in identifying challenges as well as involvement in the implementation of solutions. Population councils could be an important tool to ensure the voice and representation of small parishes and remote areas on different scales.
