FINLAND
General information / approach:
The Finnish government has launched a series of flagship events around Finland during autumn 2021 and the beginning of the 2022. The government participates in these discussions at a ministerial level. Minister for European Affairs Tytti Tuppurainen and 11 other ministers of the Finnish government host events. In total, there are close to 20 events. Some of the events also have a cross-border dimension. The Prime Minister’s office has launched a website for the series of events.
Open and equal citizens’ participation is at the heart of the events. In a close cooperation with the Europe Information of Finland, the Finnish government has launched a poll for Finnish citizens, to feed in the discussion. Finnish government and its ministries are cooperating with other entities, such as cities, local authorities, universities, NGOs, the youth organisation as well as with the Finnish parliament, the European Parliament and European Commission Information Offices in Finland when organising the events.
